It's still Saturday! So this counts!
Today's Postcard is rather... odd. Or it is to me. Maybe at the time it was sent (1916 apparently) there was some significance to it, that me, with my modern sensibilities (haha!) can't quite figure out. Let's get to it, shall we?
Here's the front of the postcard. Now, this is one of the Bard's more famous quotes, the first line of the play Macbeth. Three witches are talking amongst themselves. So the oddness should be clear.
First off - these on the postcard are obviously not witches, they are donkeys (which again makes me think there's some meaning I'm not getting here). Second - there are only two of them, as you can see. What am I missing?
The person who wrote the card must have gotten the weirdness, too. Here's the "correspondence" part. I know it's unreadable in the picture; it's barely readable with my own eyes. As best as I can make out it says:
That means you are the third one.
No signature or anything, so once again, presumably the person who received it knows who it came from, lol.
Here's the back.
And the Post mark and stamp.
So there is my offering for Postcard Saturday. Any thoughts on the oddness of the front would be greatly appreciated!
:)
