So out looking at things a couple days ago, this is what I found:
It's a flower on one of the potato plants! I've heard they sometimes got them. Someone even told me about how she has a potato plant and never digs up the potato, just keeps picking the flowers that keep growing. This is the only one I've seen so far.
Quickie on this Sunday, but something to share.

Post Card Saturday
It's still Saturday! So this counts!
Today's Postcard is rather... odd. Or it is to me. Maybe at the time it was sent (1916 apparently) there was some significance to it, that me, with my modern sensibilities (haha!) can't quite figure out. Let's get to it, shall we?
Here's the front of the postcard. Now, this is one of the Bard's more famous quotes, the first line of the play Macbeth. Three witches are talking amongst themselves. So the oddness should be clear.
First off - these on the postcard are obviously not witches, they are donkeys (which again makes me think there's some meaning I'm not getting here). Second - there are only two of them, as you can see. What am I missing?
The person who wrote the card must have gotten the weirdness, too. Here's the "correspondence" part. I know it's unreadable in the picture; it's barely readable with my own eyes. As best as I can make out it says:
That means you are the third one.
No signature or anything, so once again, presumably the person who received it knows who it came from, lol.
Here's the back.
And the Post mark and stamp.
So there is my offering for Postcard Saturday. Any thoughts on the oddness of the front would be greatly appreciated!

This Just In...
Well, not really. There's really nothing to report at the moment. How sad is that? The new stuff I planted in the garden is doing well, but not so much to show pictures yet. I haven't cooked anything exciting or new lately. And no new embroidery projects. (Yes, that business is going to start soon, but the point is - it hasn't yet).
B-O-R-I-N-G
Does it count that rainy season hasn't started yet and I still have to water - a lot? Should be coming soon, but along with that is the heat. I guess we'll see what makes it in the garden and what doesn't.
Oh! There are teeny tiny avocados on the avocado tree! Never seen them before, but maybe they've been there all along and just didn't turn into full fledged avocados. We'll see what we see there too, I guess.
Yep. That really was it. More later this week when I've forced myself to do... something. Ha ha!

Headgear - Part 1 (Tied In to Easter)
So I'm not sure how it happened, but I sort of have a collection of what I term "headgear". I enjoy wearing it, and it began years ago at a science fiction convention. Someone there had some pink bunny ears that I thought were just the bomb! And she let me wear them for a little while, I have a picture somewhere and everything.
From then on, I wanted some pink bunny ears of my own. Just because, only they were hard (for me, anyway, at the time) to find. Fast forward to years later - and I found some white bunny ears at Halloween one year. I got 'em and started wearing them for Happy Hour on Friday nights.
The new kitten loved them, too, and dragged them all over the house and they soon became grey bunny ears, lol. And I lamented to an online friend and told them about my fascination with pink bunny ears.
Imagine when I was then sent a link not just to pink bunny years - but pink light up bunny ears! Of course, I jumped at 'em and now have them.
One night I wore them to a party at a bar. And then when we started playing trivia, I wore them. And well, the collection grew from there. I have several sets of bunny ears, as well as various and sundry other pieces of headgear in varying forms - including the most awesome pink cowboy hat!
So that's what those ears are up there. And here is a new set of bunny ears that joined the collection *tonight* because there they were, on clearance and begging to be brought home :D
One of these days I'll post some more of my collection for you all to enjoy, hehe.

Happy Easter - With Postcards!
Happy Easter, All!
Yesterday was busy anyway, and so I figured that instead of pushing it with Postcard Saturday, this time I would deliberately put Easter postcards - on Easter! So next week I'll be back to Post Card Saturday.
Hope your day has been good, however. And as promised, two more Easter postcards. These aren't all of them, but let's hope I"m still doing this in a year and can post the rest next year. Ha ha!
So Postcard 1 is more religious in theme (picture) than 2:
According to the postmark, this was mailed in 1912. And the address is literally just a name, a city, and a state. Gotta wonder if it actually got there, lol.
The messages, as far as I can make out (remember - this is in pencil so some of it is sort of smudgy):
Dear friend:
I hope you are well by this time and are happy in being sweet sixteen there few weeks yet. I am sorry you are not coming this summer. Mrs. M called me up last night on the phone to ask if I had any old clothes for Aggie (?).
Give my love to Roscoe.
There's no name on this, so presumably the person it's addressed to would know who sent them this card, lol.
Postcard 2 is also Easter, of course, though the picture is more spring. The message is religious.
There is no postmark on it, just a name on the correspondence side.
And the messages seems to be an invitation, making me wonder if these were just hand delivered. As best as I can make out it says:
You are invited to attend the 19 anniversary exercises at Lincoln School on Fri eve Apr 6, 1928 at 7:15
No idea what sort of exercises these could be, but hey - that was a long time ago. Maybe graduation? The card is handwritten, so it could be anything, I guess.
Anyway - hope you're having a great day whether you celebrate Easter or not. And hope you enjoyed the postcards!

Crazy Times!
Yesterday was crazy long. Like - really, super long, lol. Today is going to be much shorter, thankfully. So hopefully more later. I will just say this, however - these cherry tomatoes are both awesome and *abundant*.
Suggestions what to do with them all? A friend suggested Salsa, so if you have a good salsa recipe, that would be cool, too. I'm here to tell you, though - there's only so many salads you can eat, lol.
Anyway - hopefully more later!

Post Card... Sunday
So on Friday I decided that it just wasn't happening, and that I was going to change Postcard Friday to Postcard Saturday. Then yesterday I just got busy, busy, busy, and well... here we are. I'm going to aim for Saturdays, but if it ends up Sundays, I guess it ends up Sundays, lol.
To make up for it - TWO postcards this week! They are especially applicable now because there were a handful of Easter postcards in the second batch that my student gave me. So I'll do two this week and two next week.
Both of these were mailed in 1910. Yep, that long ago!
Here's the front of the first one:
Here's the back. These are really bad pictures, I know, but I can't seem to find a good spot to take them, lol. The back of this one is super hard to read anyway.
The best I can make out, this is what it says:
3-26-1910 Norfolk, VA
Hello Lizzie. I will write a letter next week. I hope you are all well. We are well. Dad has been working all week. Amy (?) will be here on Wed morning. I had a nice time up at - Sarah came home on Wed. Love to you all from us all. Your (unreadable word) Mother
And the postmark.

Quick Recipe Update
Ingredients
- 1 Bananna
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Cup Spinach
- 1/4 Cup Oatmeal
- 1 tsp Cinamon
- 1/8 Sugar (opcional)
Directions
- In a blender mix the ingredients, first banana, eggs, and spinach. Then add the oatmeal, sugar and cinnamon (the oatmeal can be replaced with a bag of instant oatmeal of your favorite flavor)
- Heat griddle or skillet over medium-high heat, grease with cooking spray.
- Make your Pancakes
- Enjoy!
It's pretty simple, and sounds really good. And they tasted okay. But as I said yesterday, they were really "soupy". Which means I think I need to drain/dry the spinach more. Or if it still seems too soupy, toss in a tablespoon or so of flour.
Tomorrow, if I get the chance, I'm going to re-try the 3 Ingredient Banana Cookie Recipe. I have some walnuts and cooking knowledge at this point, so it's worth a shot before the last of the bananas really can't be used at all.
Updates as they become available, ha ha!

Sunday's Cooking Adventures!
As promised, here are yesterday's cooking adventures!
First up - Hulk Pancakes
We were talking in class one day about getting kids to eat healthier. Since most of the class is mothers with kids, this was a good topic, it seemed, lol. This one mother talked about making pancakes with spinach. Of course, those babies would be green, haha! But her son ate them and that's the important part.
She shared her recipe with me (I'll share it with all 5 of you tomorrow if she says it's okay, lol) Up there is the picture of mine, yes, done with my farm animals pancake griddle.
The batter was *really* soupy, but I think that was my fault. I used frozen spinach, and I think I really really needed to rinse it more and Dry It Completely! I will try these again.
Second was this recipe I got on Facebook:
Made those. They should have been easy, and for the most part they were. I will say that though my bananas were mostly black on the outside, they were still hard enough in the middle it was difficult to mash them.
Once they'd cooked for the prescribed amount of time, I took them out, since they looked like they might be burning anyway. They stuck to the pan (so word to the wise, spray it first). And they are super chewy... weird texture, too. I um, also didn't have walnuts so I used slivered almonds. I'll use walnuts next time, haha.
Next time - they will be 5-6 ingredient cookies, because I will add cinnamon and a little milk, possibly a couple of tablespoons of flour. Yes, I get that that sort of negates the "simplicity" of it, etc, but that's still not a ton of extra work, calories, etc. Not like true cookies that, well, are a lot of work, lol.
So there's report of my cooking adventures from yesterday. Thrilling, eh? Lol

Super Productive = Super Tired...
Heck yeah, it does!
I woke up and started cooking today. Tomorrow I'll share recipes and how I fared with them. Let's just say they were both edible, but I'm going to make a few alterations next time.
And yesterday, I couldn't help myself. I had to go pick up some medicine for Sophie, and with a gift card I still had for Home Depot, went the three blocks from the vet to the store. It seems they were having a sale! Yikes! How's a faux gardener supposed to resist?
I got some of the good dirt, that was dirt cheap, ha ha! And well, got a few plants, since they were on sale, too. And then spent the afternoon getting them settled (at least for now).
So up there was my second attempt at lemon balm. I'm not saying the yard people stole the last one, BUT...
It was in a freshly cleared spot in the front bed *and* had the tag next to it. I left for work in the morning and it was there. Came home in the afternoon, the yard people had been there - and there was *no sign* of my lemon balm.
Still paid too much for it, but there it is. And it's even more clear that it's not a weed, per se, haha!
And also - a million tomato plants. I've given a few away, but I seriously need some more pots to put them in... lol.
Here is another tub with a zucchini plant in one corner and a watermelon plant in the other. I also planted bell pepper seeds from some of the peppers I've gotten in the past.
Finally - what I think is a mango tree. My mom and I put it in a pot a couple years ago, sort of suspecting but not knowing. The poor thing was one bit root ball by the time I tried to get it out of the pot - almost no dirt at all (except the part where the mother-in-law tongue was growing in it, lol). But considering how little it's survived on to this point, I'm hoping it will survive in the ground. Time will tell, as always.
No rest for the weary, either. Still have more laundry to get to, as well as changing the bed. *sigh*.
Hope everyone's weekend was as productive as mine!

I know... I know...
Yes, I know - it's Saturday. And that Post Card Friday is supposed to be... well... Friday, lol. But I had a friend over visiting last night and it just didn't happen. On the plus side, she did pick out the postcard for this week's post! Next week, on time. I mean it!
So that was the front of the postcard. I'll be honest, I'm not sure what the ice water and dried apples are about. Any guesses, anyone? It's probably something really obvious that I'm missing, but well, I don't get it, lol.
Here's a close up of what it says. Notice, the writing is on the front. The early ones apparently only allowed the address on the back. From what I can make out, this is the message:
Every body well, hope this finds you all the same.
E. H. B.
And then the back, of course. No zip code. And the postmark is for 1907! That is one old postcard! And I'm digging having it and all the others.
So there's your postcard for this week. Next week, on time. Really!
:)

Happy Fantastic Friday!
Hello! And apologies for slow posting this week. It's been an unexpectedly longer one than it should have been. But the weekend is here - yay! Just a few more hours and it should be blissfully slow for a couple of days. "Should be" being the operative words, ha ha!
So - the drawing was held Wednesday, the winners have been contacted. Once they've gotten their towels and all, I'll see what they think about putting them on here. That was fun, for me at least. Thanks to everyone who answered my question!
Also - It's Post Card Friday! I will have one up here later on this afternoon. Keep your eyes peeled for that one :)
There's a quick update for ya'! More later!
