Too many choices.
There are too many choices out there, which tends to paralyze some (most?) people. It even happens to me at my advanced age (ha ha!) even if it's just temporarily. Think about it - if you don't have the option (or even the knowledge of) climbing Mt. Everest, that's one less choice you have to choose from on how to spend time and/or money.
Should I write about gardening today? Or embroidery? Or freezing or canning? Maybe cooking? Or heck, even about writing itself. Or possibly the cutest thing one of my furry babies did today. Or maybe just the great day I had altogether.
Do you start to see my point? There are so many things to choose from out there now, that people know about, and are actually options to do/see/experience, they often don't choose anything because they can't or won't make a decision.
I made a choice, or at least, narrowed down a field. The picture included here might give you a clue...
In my quest to be do more for the Homesteader Wannabe inside, create more, become more of the Earth Mother / Domestic Goddess I know I was meant to be, hehe, I've decided that I am not going to try to take up a bunch of different crafts, things I don't already know. I have a basic knowledge of sewing garments from the SCA (if you don't know what that is, go to SCA.org - yep, I'm a total geek, learn it now!). I can embroider - my Granny taught me and I used to do it quite a bit. Heck, at one point I even did stained glass.
But I can't knit, or crochet, or paint, or refinish furniture, or reupholster it, or even build it. And that's okay with me. I'm going to concentrate on improving the skill I have in the stuff I can do. If I ever get bored with that, then maybe I will take up something else.
I feel good about this decision. I have chosen. So in the spirit of choosing to keep going with embroidery, that is a picture of something I did a few years ago, before the thing I finished last weekend. (I will post pictures of the new thing in a few days - if you read my first post, you know why I haven't yet, lol).
Which means at some point this weekend I will start another embroidery project. Now I just have to choose what to embroider... *sigh*
